LIVE: 'Utter gridlock' in Manchester with long delays on motorways, roads and Metrolink amid weather warning - traffic updates
Drivers and passengers are being warned to expect delays this morning as wintry weather has led to severe disruption. There are queues of more than an hour on theNational Highways says the works could not be removed in time westbound between junctions 5 and 6, near Manchester Airport and Hale. Along with heavy snow earlier this morning, it's led to long delays backing up to theThe queues are also having an impact on the M60 clockwise, with queues tailing back to junction 25 at Brinnington.

Broken down cars are also causing issues on the M60 clockwise between junctions 23 and 24 through Tameside, and westbound near Simister Island between junctions 18 and 19 on the M62.
Snow is also causing issues on the A6 in Whaley Bridge and Disley, while traffic is blocked on the A57 Cadishead Way towards Manchester, following a collision near Fairhills Road. Drivers are being urged to take extra care on the roads this morning due to the adverse weather. A Met Office warning for snow and ice is in force across Greater Manchester until midday. Temperatures in the city are only just beginning to climb above freezing, before hitting a maximum of 4C later today.
