Violence that ended with one man fighting for his life in hospital was the culmination of a year of 'torture' between neighbours over children playing football outside their homes, it has been claimed.
Residents say two families have been at loggerheads over children playing football on a green on Panfield Road. On Sunday night, a brick was thrown at the front window of a home overlooking the green, prompting a confrontation in the street, it has been claimed. A mother-of-three who lives at the property told the Manchester Evening News she had been told by the police to move out for her own safety. As she collected valuables from home with a friend, she alleged the incident was sparked by an argument over kids playing outside repeatedly kicking footballs at their home.
She claimed the incident then 'escalated where it didn't need to go'. A confrontation followed which ended in a brawl involving six men, some brandishing knives, she said.
