A fatal two-vehicle collision on the N55 in Co Cavan on Christmas Day has claimed the life of a man in his late 80s.
The two-vehicle crash happened on the N55 at Clarebane at around 12.40am on Christmas Day. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Four occupants in the second car were taken to Cavan General Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, reports Cork Beo.
"A man, aged in late 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to Cavan General Hospital where a post mortem will take place. "The road is currently closed for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place."Gardaí are appealing for any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling on the N55 between 12:15am and 12:45am this morning to make this footage available.
