McDonald's plans to open a new drive-thru restaurant at an employment park near Bolton . The firm wishes to develop a site on Cutacre Way, close to the Logistics North employment area, off the A6 Salford Road. Rival fast-food chain Burger King already has an outlet nearby. Additionally, several other retail and commercial outlets are located near the site, including Aldi, Costa Coffee, Greggs, and Pine Tree Farm carvery restaurant.
If the plans are approved, the restaurant would become McDonald's eighth branch in the borough of Bolton. The US fast-food chain stated that the outlet would provide a 'complementary use to the wider commercial area' and 'develop a vacant plot of land.' The burger giant already has branches in the town center at Knowsley Street and Derby Street, as well as other sites at Manchester Road, Waters Meeting Road, Chorley Old Road, Pavilion Square in Westhoughton, and at the Middlebrook retail park. The firm said the restaurant would support up to 80 full-time jobs. According to a design and access statement in support of the plans, vehicular access will be provided via a priority junction off Cutacre Way, pedestrian access from Cutacre Way via Bridgewater Avenue, and two zebra crossing facilities through the car park prioritizing pedestrian safety. The proposal includes 30 car parking spaces, including three accessible bays and one EVCP bay. Bolton Council will decide on the application in the coming weeks
