A warm day with some scattered showers is expected in Leeds on the day before the storm hits
Leeds is bracing itself for the impact of Storm Agnes which is set to hit the region from around midday on Wednesday.
A yellow warning has been issued with the chance of some damage to building from strong winds, as well as the possibility of power cuts for some. Transport disruption is also likely, with some roads and bridges likely to close. Storm Agnes is the first named storm of the storm naming season, which runs from September to August the following year. The Met Office is predicting much calmer conditions on Tuesday before the storm hits with a mix of sunshine and showers.The Met Office forecast for Leeds on Tuesday said: "After a dry and bright start, chance of some heavy and possibly thundery showers moving quickly north-eastwards during the morning. Sunny spells and scattered showers following. Winds easing.
The outlook for the rest of the week said: "Starting dry and bright Wednesday, before wet and windy weather quickly sweeps north-eastwards later, with gales likely, clearing overnight. Sunshine and showers following Thursday and Friday. Windy and staying mild."
