The Met Office has issued advice for thunderstorms
England's households are being advised to unplug their appliances and keep two essential items close by as lightning is forecasted to hit various parts of the country.
Thunder and lightning have already hit some areas, while other regions are braced for stormy conditions tomorrow and Wednesday. Following the year's highest temperature of 34.8C recorded in Cambridge, the impending rain is set to make a dramatic entrance. As the storm approaches, the Met Office has warned of the risks of power surges caused by lightning strikes, advising the public to disconnect any non-essential electrical devices, reports the Mirror.
"Seek shelter if possible. When you hear thunder you are already within range of where the next ground flash may occur, lightning can strike as far as 10 miles away from the centre of a storm," they say, reports the Mirror. According to the Met Office, a band of rain incoming from the Atlantic will bring with it a shift to more variable weather patterns across the UK. For Wednesday, we're expecting some leftover rain to persist in the southeast, yet there will also be pleasant sunny spells for most parts of the country.
