The Winter Fuel Payment is designed to support people during the colder months
The Winter Fuel Payment is designed to help people pay for gas and electric when they need it most during the colder months. Soaring energy prices and the cost of living crisis has sparked an increase in the Winter Fuel payment to help pensioners cope with the additional fees.
The support helps those born before September 25, 1957 with heating costs during winter and is potentially worth as much as £600, depending on people's circumstances. The DWP will start making payments from November 1 but some people may be waiting a while longer before they receive the cash.
