The council held an hour-long committee of the whole meeting to iron out details of an amendment

) -The Mobile City Council is ready to start the healing process after voting to fire Police Chief Paul Prine. They say part of that process is investigating the claims Prine made against Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s administration. Some community members came before the council, saying regardless of who is chief, they want answers and transparency.

“Investigate Chief Prine. Investigate the mayor. Investigate everybody that is attached,” said LaTara Banks. “There is no higher investigative authority in the state of Alabama than the attorney general,” said Stimpson. “To hire another law firm or somebody else to do an investigation is just to get another opinion of someone who has no prosecutorial powers.”

“None of us are lawyers on the council,” said District 2 Councilman William Carroll. “A lot of these issues may have legal parameters that we don’t understand that needs an attorney with that specialty to decipher what’s going on.”
