BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty made an on-air blunder while interviewing an eyewitness to the New Orleans truck attack, mistaking him for not being in the city. She later apologized for the error.
Naga Munchetty had to apologize to a BBC Breakfast guest live on air after making an error. The host was back on the iconic red sofa with Charlie Stayt on Thursday (January 2) morning, delivering the news to the nation about a tragic incident in New Orleans where at least 15 people were killed and 30 injured. A person deliberately drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street during New Year's celebrations.
The driver has been identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, and the FBI have stated that they do not believe Jabbar acted alone in the attack, appealing to the public for help. The FBI is investigating Jabbar's 'potential associations and affiliations' with terrorist organisations. A potential improvised explosive device was found in the truck, and other potential IEDs were discovered in the French Quarter, according to the FBI. Naga interviewed eyewitness Scott Nelson, who was inside a nightclub near Bourbon Street when the attack occurred. However, things didn't go smoothly when the TV star seemed to get confused. Welcoming Scott via video link, Naga said: 'Scott, hello to you. I know you are not in New Orleans now but you were there. Can you just tell me what you knew as the incident was happening because you was inside a nightclub.', reports the Express. He replied: 'Good Morning, I actually am still in New Orleans. The scene is directly behind me. I was in a nightclub probably 30 metres or so from the scene where the truck crashed and immediately we saw people fleeing the scene and law enforcements running towards it.' Naga continued: 'It's very clear that you are still shaken and you are still in the city of New Orleans now, my apologies.' Scott went on to explain the scary moments he witnessed and talked through the emergency actions taken during the distressing event. In other news, Naga announced a significant new chapter following her decade-long run on BBC Breakfas
