Tests are ongoing to try to confirm if two properties in the Harbour Road area of Maidens are contaminated by a petrol leak.
Two neighbours in an Ayrshire coastal village have been placed on high alert - after being warned their properties could be at risk of EXPLODING.Billy Neilson fears his property at 9a Harbour Road will be ‘condemned’ and revealed it may need to be DEMOLISHED.The neighbours claim their homes are steeped in a petroleum-like substance coming up from the ground.
“It’s coming up from the loo, the stair cupboard, then it permeates into our hallway. I don’t have a good sense of smell but this just knocks my wife out. “We’ve been advised that the fumes could be detrimental to health and we will probably have to seek alternative accommodation for an indefinite period until the source is found and attended to.
He said: “For me, the property in Harbour Road was a small business. I did holiday lets, but this has killed the business off.“We did a series of investigations back in November, drilling down until we hit bedrock. All the soil is contaminated down to that level.“They told me when they drilled down they put four bore holes down until we hit bedrock. When they brought the drilling rig up, they put a pipe down with a meter reading on top of it and sent it down.
