Labour are 'incredibly concerned' that they've seen 'time and time again flipflopping from Liz Truss' with 'no clarity' over what she's going to do to solve the cost of living crisis, says Labour party chair Anneliese Dodds MP. 📺 Sky 501 and YouTube
A lady on Twitter called Liz Trussell appears to be having her very own John Lewis moment.
Speaking to Sky News, he said Ms Truss is"much more interested in policy and policy detail" and has"gone into politics because she wants to do things, [it's] not just about the post that she holds" - a thinly-veiled dig at Mr Johnson. The nomination would still need to be passed by the Commons, and if just one voice dissented then the nomination would fail. A group of around 100 protesters has gathered outside the gates of Downing Street this evening.
Chris Curtis, head of political polling at Opinium Research, said Liz Truss is starting off as a"fairly unpopular prime minister" and is"going to have to do a lot to turn that around". Most opinion polls show the Labour Party in the lead, while Ms Truss is also losing to opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer on the question of who would make the best prime minister.
He warned that if the new prime minister doesn't turn her numbers around, there will be questions within her party about whether she's up to the job.
