Julie-Ann and her three children haven't been able to stay in their home in over a week

A mum from Northern Ireland has said she is distraught after discovering her house was riddled with rats and live wires.

Julie-Ann said she and her children are now having issues sleeping at night due to fears they'll see a rat out of the corner of their eye. Julie-Ann said the issue with rats is now "constant," and that it seems they are now avoiding the traps that have been placed. "We've been out of the house since last Tuesday. I have one child in my mum's house, one in my mum's house, and one staying in my granny's with me - my kids are all just split up all over the place."

Julie-Ann said: "The Housing Executive sent me an email to say they've been in touch with the company that owns the temporary lets, but they said all issues I've reported have been dealt with. But they haven't been dealt with as the house is still crawling with rats. A bit of wood has been put over the live wires but that's it.

"They have said I'm top priority now to be moved to a single let, but they don't have anything at the minute. If I was told there was a permanent house there that would be ready in a month or so, that would be no problem.
