David Peralta serving as Padres' DH in fifth straight game; he reached five times against the Diamondbacks on Saturday
David Peralta pumped his fist, half in jest, as he surveyed the three right-handed starting pitchers that the Diamondbacks had lined up to start a four-game series at Petco Park. “I have a chance to play,” he said with a laugh. Left-hander Blake Walston’s subsequent move to the injured list means Arizona is at least starting a fourth game with a right-hander as Scott McGough will serve as an opener on Sunday .
Peralta is 4-for-49 with two walks, two doubles, a hit-by-pitch and three runs scored in this series. He will bat sixth, wedged between fill-in third baseman Donovan Solano and center fielder Jackson Merrill. After giving way to Kyle Higashioka for Saturday’s Matt Waldron start, Luis Campusano is back in the lineup in the nine-hole to catch right-hander Adam Mazur’s second career start.
