Paul O’Grady's widower says the TV stalwart had a 'spliff' in the peaceful final moments before his death.
The former ballet dancer, who married the legendary entertainer in 2017, told the story of O’Grady’s death at a memorial event on Wednesday night. It was attended by a host of celebrities including Alan Carr, Amanda Holden and Dawn French.Portasio told the crowd: "We’d had a very ordinary day, just watching TV together at home, when Paul said he wanted to make a ‘cup of tea’, and that was our little code for rolling a spliff.
More than 320 guests packed into the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London where Andre spoke. For the ceremony, Her Majesty Queen Camilla also paid a moving tribute to Paul which was read out by Calendar Girls actress Celia Imrie. He said: "I went over to Paul’s for dinner, and he served me pumpkin soup. After that, the evening got a bit a wild - and I can’t remember very much.
