The Celtic chief is among 24 members of the Executive Board meeting this week to discuss the future of European football.
Celtic chief Peter Lawwell is in the house at the European Club Association as a number of prominent football figures meet in Berlin for a summit on football's future.
Lawwell has served as a member of the ECA's executive board since 2014 and was among the invites to the 30th ECA General Assembly in Germany. The board, chaired by PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is comprised of higher-ups at clubs across the continent and counts Ajax's Edwin van aer Sar, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, Lyon's Jean-Michel Aulas among its 24 members.
To mark the 30th anniversary members are to meet in Berlin this week with the restructure of the Champions League a shoo-in to be high on the agenda. Lawwell, who returned to Celtic as non-executive chairman in January 18 months after stepping down as CEO, will have a vested interest in that topic as his side vie for automatic qualification and already hold a four-point lead at the top of Premiership.
Lawwell was seen arriving in a clip posted to the ECA's social media channels and was in conversation with another attendee at reception. It comes as board members from clubs all over Europe contemplate the new 36-team format which is poised to ramp up revenue by 33 per cent - to an eyewatering £4.2bn per season.
The new format will stretch beyond Christmas and all teams who qualify will contest a guaranteed eight games rather than six. It's a league-based format with teams who finish in the top eight going straight into the knockouts. Teams who finish between ninth and 24th will face off in a playoff round which brings in two more fixtures in total
