THE Philippines filed a diplomatic protest against China over its 'close distance maneuvering' along the waters of Bajo de Masinloc, the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea said on Tuesday.National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperson said the Philippines is opting for peaceful remedies to incidents involving the WPS.'We are for peace in the area. So much likely the first approach is diplomatic,' Esperon said.

Esperson said the incident last March 2 was actually the fourth, when the Chinese Coast Guard almost came close to the Philippine Coast Guard patrol vessels.Esperson said they decided not to publicize the incident and the activities of China to give way to more peaceful solutions.The first maneuvering incident occurred in May 2021, followed by June 1 and 2 of the same year.
