Her Majesty passed away on Thursday, September 8

The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has set in train 10 days of meticulous arrangements which officially is code-named Operation Unicorn, as the monarch died in Scotland. Long established protocols already exist for 10 days of national mourning - called Operation London Bridge.

Large numbers of people would be expected to sign a book of condolence at Holyrood. The Queen's coffin would be placed on a royal train at Waverley station and taken south to London, where her funeral would be held. A statement was also released to the Press Association and other news outlets and regular programmes have been pulled to allow blanket coverage of the situation. The Queen’s funeral will take place in ten days’ time and more details will be released in the next few hours.

It is expected that thousands of people will want to do that and the opportunity is likely to be available for up to 23 hours a day for three days. On the tenth day, the Queen’s body will be moved to Westminster Abbey for a state funeral, which will be attended by heads of state from across the world.
