Reeves says Britain’s housing crisis has 'put the brakes on economic growth' and Labour is 'rebuilding Britain'
In the Budget, on 30 October, the Government will also commit to “a consultation on a new long-term social housing rent settlement”. Kate Henderson, chief executive of the National Housing Federation, said the £500m boost was “vital” to “prevent a collapse in the delivery” of social housing. The announcement, which comes shortly after the Chancellor made her intention to change the rules on Government borrowing public, signals a huge gear shift in the way that public spending on infrastructure, including housing, could work under Labour.
