A woman driving on Interstate 84 in Connecticut was targeted by a man exhibiting extreme road rage. The assailant damaged her vehicle before fleeing the scene. Police are actively searching for the suspect, who was reportedly armed and involved in other incidents prior to the attack.
Alison McIntire recounted her harrowing encounter on Interstate 84 in Southbury, Connecticut . Driving just before 9 a.m., she noticed a man tailgating her in the fast lane. Concerned, she moved over to allow him to pass, only to have him repeatedly attempt to cut her off and force her off the road. Finally, he slammed his brakes in front of her, leaving her with no space to maneuver. The man then exited his vehicle without a word and began kicking McIntire's station wagon.
A truck driver behind her witnessed the incident and intervened by shouting at the assailant, which prompted him to return to his car and flee.McIntire's vehicle sustained significant damage, including large dents on the passenger side door and hood, along with the man's footprints. Her side mirror was also ripped off. Unbelievably shaken, McIntire reported the incident to Connecticut State Police, who informed her that she was the second victim of this man's road rage that morning. McIntire expressed relief that she remained inside her vehicle and did not engage with the clearly agitated individual. Following the attack, a K9 unit tracked the suspect's scent to the fence line of Sign Pro, a local business. Police swarmed the area, reviewing hours of surveillance footage from the premises. They learned that the suspect had allegedly brandished a gun and machete, abandoned his vehicle at the nearby I-84 East rest area, and fled on foot. Authorities believe he was involved in a barricade situation in Cheshire, where he allegedly struck two vehicles. Schools and businesses in the vicinity went into lockdown as a precautionary measure.
