Michael Shanks won the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election and will take the oath to be the representative for the area.
Shanks of Scottish Labour will take the oath today at 2.30pm to become the constituency’s MP after he won the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election with a majority of 9,446 votes - a 20.36% shift away from the SNP.

Speaking on X Michael Shanks said: “It has been a week now since I was elected to serve as your MP and it is still sinking in what a huge privilege it is to represent this amazing community.”
