Scots passengers were left to sleep on floors at the airport after flights were cancelled and delayed because of staffing issues.

Edinburgh passengers returning from a popular holiday hotspot have reportedly been caught up in travel "chaos" and claim they have been forced to sleep on the airport floor.

He had been due to fly out at 9pm local time after a two week holiday, and arrived at the departure gate two hours before to make sure he didn't miss the flight. The fuming holidaymaker slammed the airport for not making passengers aware of this in advance, and questioned whether they knew this before they kept people waiting at the airport.

Some of the holidaymakers left the airport terminal to try and find help, and somewhere to stay for the night, but were bounced between help desks and gates, and given no answers. Images from inside the airport show weary holidaymakers sleeping on the floor as others sit around, with nowhere to go. Another added: "Sat in Corfu for 6 hours for our delayed 9pm flight to Edinburgh. Whole time the new time being quoted was 12:30am.. 12:30am arrived and the flight was delayed overnight due to the crew being out of hours?! You would have known this when the plane left origin!!!"
