Cleveland Heights police took a report in which a man told officers that people in a parked SUV, with whom he had exchanged stares while in a Lee Road store lot, followed his car and fired shots at him.

Cleveland Heights police are investigating a report that five or six shots were fired at a man's car as he drove home from a Lee Road store.CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A man told Cleveland Heights police that, as he drove home from a store, people he did not know that were traveling in a silver SUV, shot at him.

At 7:20 p.m. May 7, a resident called police to report that her son had been shot at while at the corner of Lee and Superior roads. The distraught woman said her son came home, hysterical, and told her someone he does not know shot at him as he drove. The son works as a court bailiff and he began to get his gun out of a safe. The woman, scared, called police.He then, however, went on to tell officers that he had been at the Uptown Mart, 1900 Lee Road, and was sitting in his mother’s car when he saw at least two people in a silver SUV parked next to him, staring at him. The man said he stared back, then drove away, with the SUV following.

When he turned from Superior Road onto Euclid Heights Boulevard, he said, shots were fired from the SUV toward him. He said five or six shots were fired before the SUV continued on Superior Road, towards Mayfield Road. At Euclid Heights Boulevard and Superior Road, officers found in the road four spent 9mm shell casings. A man who was walking his dog shortly after the shooting, gave to officers a fifth shell casing he found on the street.Police viewed surveillance video at Uptown Mart, but were unable to see the silver SUV.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
