Sky Mobile has announced a price increase for customers who are no longer within their minimum contract period. This change will take effect from this Friday, February 14th. Sky Mobile stated that monthly bills will rise by a fixed £1.50, equating to an additional £18 annually for those customers. It's important to note that those still within their contract period will not be affected by this price hike.

In addition to the monthly bill increase, Sky Mobile is also raising the cost of calls to EU and EEA countries by 4p, making them 25p per minute. Calls to other international destinations will increase by £1 to £3.50 per minute. Money expert Martin Lewis consistently advises mobile users across all networks to verify their contract status. He suggests that millions of UK customers could be overpaying for their mobile services because they have the freedom to switch but remain on their regular contract price, even after settling their handset costs and exiting the minimum contract period. Customers unsure about their contract status can send a free text message saying 'INFO', along with their date of birth in the format DDMMYY, to 85075. The provider should respond promptly to clarify the situation and disclose any exit fees associated with leaving. If your contract has ended, you are free to compare prices and find a more suitable deal. At this stage, you can request your PAC code by text, which you can then pass on to your new network provider to initiate the switch. Martin Lewis explains that often, this prompts your current provider to offer a better deal in an attempt to retain your custom. He said, 'You tell them 'I am leaving I want my PAC code'. Do you know what they often do? They go, ohhh, you're leaving look we can do you a much better deal than you currently have.' This is the weapon that you have to make sure they have to win your custom and protect your custom to really get the best deals, because it sends a warning to your network that you want to leave and are taking steps to do so actively.
