SOME Whaley Bridge residents celebrated finally being allowed home last night - but hundreds were forced to endure a SIXTH night away.
Inspections on Toddbrook Reservoir will continue work today to determine if it is safe after days of heavy rain led its dam wall to nearly breach. It said “all safety implications will be assessed” before a decision is made with police about what happens next. Asked what it was like to be one of the first to be let back in, she said: "It's great. I can finally get some sleep. I just can't wait to get back in my flat.They joined 20 diehard locals in the Horwich End area who defied the evacuation order to stay - despite repeated pleas by cops for them to leave as there is still a “risk to life”.
