Motorists are being urged to take extra care

It happened shortly before 8:30am on the Ballylesson Road in South Belfast. In a statement issued on social media, police say the crash "was a result of the road conditions".

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received and responded to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision shortly before 8.30am this morning, Wednesday 14th December, on the Ballylesson Road in south Belfast."The road, which was closed for a period of time earlier, has since re-opened. "We would like all road users to be extra careful on our roads during this cold spell as some roads may not be gritted and caution should be used. Thankfully no one was seriously injured in this collision."

Meanwhile, a two-day weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland, coming into effect at 3pm today. A Met Office spokesperson said: "Occasional wintry showers will lead to ice forming on untreated surfaces. The showers mainly of rain or sleet around the north coast throughout, and on the east coast on Thursday morning, but otherwise falling as snow with accumulations of 1 to 3 cm in a few places."For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here.
