A large police cordon is in place after reports of a horrific knife attack in Southport . Merseyside Police confirmed its officers were called at around 11.50am this morning after reports of a stabbing. The ECHO understands that one person - believed to be a child - has died, while possibly more then ten others - both adults and children - have been taken to hospitals around the region with major traumas.
There is no wider threat to the public.' One woman, who lives close to Hart Street has described the terror that spread around the local area as news filtered through of the horrifying incident. She said: 'She said: 'It was about 20 past 12 I think and we heard loads of sirens and then there was a helicopter circling above.
