The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire as Storm Herminia approaches. The warning is in effect from Sunday morning through Monday morning, with the potential for 80mm of rainfall in some areas. Forecasters warn of possible flooding, power cuts, and dangerous driving conditions.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain fall across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire as Storm Herminia approaches. The yellow warning, in effect from 8:00 AM on Sunday, January 26th, to 6:00 AM on Monday, January 27th, follows previous warnings for wind on Friday, January 24th, due to Storm Éowyn and ice on Saturday, January 25th.

This rain warning is issued because a period of heavy rain is expected to affect central and southern England and much of Wales during Sunday morning, followed by some heavy, thundery showers. A Met Office spokesperson stated, 'Quite widely, 10-20 mm of rain will fall, with locally nearer 30-50 mm over high ground, particularly over exposed south or southeast-facing slopes. It's then possible that a further spell of heavy rain may develop and affect parts of England and Wales on Sunday evening, clearing early Monday. Should this occur, a few places may see as much as 80 mm of rainfall in total. 'Given recent heavy rain, this additional rainfall could lead to some local surface water and river flooding.' The country is still recovering from the impacts of Storm Éowyn, and forecasters are now focusing on Storm Herminia, named by the Spanish meteorological service. The Met Office has issued several warnings for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. In addition to the possibility of flooding in some areas, there is also a chance of power cuts, difficult driving conditions, problems with public transport, and, in areas with deep or fast-flowing floodwater, 'danger to life,' according to the Met Office
