Surgeons at Southmead Hospital in Bristol have developed a pioneering procedure to restore mobility in patients with high-grade sarcoma, an aggressive cancer that often leads to severe muscle damage and loss of limb function.
Surgeons have pioneered a new technique to restore mobility to patients suffering from debilitating muscle damage caused by high-grade sarcoma , an aggressive cancer. The innovative procedure involves transplanting muscle tissue from the back to the arm, which enables patients to flex their arm again three months after surgery.
This breakthrough, to be presented at the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) meeting, could significantly improve the quality of life for patients with high-grade sarcomas
