“What we got out of it is difficult to quantify, because it was so difficult to make,” began Jason. “What we hoped for viewers to [see] is that we’re an imperfect family who have survived the worst thing that can happen to a parent. “It’s to show audiences that you can survive,” he continued. “When you lose a child, it initially is indescribable. [You have] a sense of guilt and loss - the light of your life is gone and you don’t know how you can go on.
“I didn’t think I’d ever be able to laugh or smile again,” added Clara. “We thought [the documentary] was an opportunity not only to talk about sepsis, but also to talk about how it is possible to live a good life after such a terrible tragedy.
