A man and a teenage boy were hospitalized with serious injuries after a stabbing incident in Longsight, Manchester. Two suspects have been arrested on suspicion of assault. Police believe the attack was targeted.

Two suspects have been arrested following a horrifying double stabbing in Longsight that left a man and a teenage boy with serious injuries. Greater Manchester Police said officers and paramedics were called to the incident near Rushford Street just before 7pm on Tuesday, February 4. A 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man were both found with stab injuries and rushed to hospital, where they currently remain to receive treatment.

A major investigation was launched, with the residential street remaining taped off throughout Wednesday, February 5. Nearby Purcell Street remained cordoned off as uniformed officers, CSI specialists, and plain clothes detectives conducted inquiries at the scene. In an update, Greater Manchester Police confirmed two men, both in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of a Section 18 assault and remain in custody. A fingertip search was carried out throughout Wednesday. A window and wall at a home were left blood-splattered following the incident, in which witnesses saw a fight break out in the street.Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald from GMP's City of Manchester division, said: “We understand the concerns of residents and want to reassure the community that we believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat. Two males have received injuries as a result of this incident and are being treated in hospital, where they remain in a stable condition. We take any type of violence very seriously and will not tolerate it on our streets. You may notice an increase in patrols of officers in the area.
