The UK will see a milder Christmas after a weekend of strong winds, heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms. The Met Office predicts a mostly cloudy Christmas Day with some drizzle, but temperatures will be mild.
Tomorrow is the big day and while snow is not looking likely, the weather is at least looking better than it has in recent days. This weekend the UK has been battered by strong winds, along with heavy rain showers, hail and thunderstorms. Yellow weather warnings for wind were issued by the Met Office, while travel plans were sent into disarray as transport services experienced delays and cancellations.
However despite there being rain across Merseyside for much of Monday the weather is turning much milder and is expected to be more stable over the festive period. Here we take a look at what the Met Office has predicted for Christmas Eve tonight, Christmas Day and looking further afield into the week. Often overcast this evening and overnight with cloud thick enough for drizzly outbreaks at times, most persistent across the fells. Staying mild overnight. Minimum temperature 7 °C. A mild but often cloudy Christmas Day with some drizzle in places. A few brighter breaks may develop at times to the east of the region. Staying rather breezy. Maximum temperature 11 °C. Often cloudy and largely dry for most over the period. Cloud will be thick enough for some drizzly outbreaks at times, with the occasional brighter spell developing too
