UNSW withstands tough fight from Melbourne University
for 2023 for the second consecutive year, fending off competition from second tier institutions that were ranked highly for quality and students’ career prospects.
The AFR BOSS Best Business Schools ranking last year replaced the BOSS MBA rankings and is the only domestic ranking of business schools in Australia. University of Canberra is ranked number one for career prospects, while QUT, Macquarie and James Cook University are also in the top 10. The Group of 8 universities dominate the reputation ranking largely because of their strong international profiles. The biggest change over the past year is in the quality category, according to Parker and Tim Brown, adjunct professor at Monash University and former professor of statistical data science at University of Melbourne.
However, the Melbourne-based institution remains towards the bottom of the pack for career prospects, ranked 26th, two spots lower than in 2022. Among the policy areas in which Monash is involved is helping Pacific countries adapt to climate change, with the establishment in March of the Pacific Action for Climate Transitions research centre in Fiji. The centre will study how business and finance policy can help nations mitigate and adapt to climate change.
