Leanne bent over two children to protect them from the attacker
An update has been issued on the condition of the hero yoga teacher who was stabbed while trying to save children during the attack in Southport last month.
Police rushed to the dance class shortly before midday after a knifeman entered the class and began stabbing children and adults. Alice Da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, tragically died in the attack, with eight children and two adults being left in hospital with injuries.It was later revealed Leanne bravely tried to protect the children in the class from the attacker but suffered serious injuries in the process, along with local businessman John Hayes.
It comes after reports that Leanne had "bravely tried to protect" the children who were targeted by the attacker. She reportedly planned the two-hour dance and yoga session to coincide with the school holidays, and taught the class alongside Heidi Barlow. Heidi was also injured in the attack, but not as seriously as Ms Lucas, reports suggest.
