South Belfast residents are demanding urgent improvements to the Four Winds bus service after persistent reports of no-show buses and passengers being asked to leave prematurely. Sinn Fein representatives met with Translink to address the issues.
South Belfast politicians have demanded urgent improvements to the Four Winds bus service operated by Translink, as residents report persistent failures. Sinn Fein representatives, MLA Deirdre Hargey and councillor Ryan Carlin, met with key figures at the public transport provider to address ongoing issues plaguing the number 7 bus service.
These issues include frequent instances of buses failing to appear, and reports of passengers being instructed to disembark the bus before it completed its intended route. This demand for improvement follows a petition signed by over 1,200 residents calling for urgent action regarding the bus service. The representatives state that Translink has pledged to take the following steps in response to residents' concerns. Following the meeting, Castlereagh South councillor Ryan Carlin expressed optimism about the outcome, stating, 'The meeting was positive and we have asked Translink to maintain direct engagement with us and Four Winds residents in the coming months to ensure they listen to those directly affected by service failures. 'If you continue to experience issues—or notice improvements—please let me know so we can report back to Translink’s senior leadership team and ensure they deliver on their commitments. 'We will keep the pressure on until we get the reliable, consistent service that the Four Winds deserves.'
