Latest polls show who is ahead nationally to become the next president in the US election
The US presidential election is just days away with tens of millions of people deciding between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Polling day takes place on November 5 - however a number of ballots have already been cast in many states which allow early voting.While ballots may say the name of each candidate, voters in the US do not directly elect their president. Instead, the individual votes in a state are typically reflected in votes cast by electors in the Electoral College.
The Electoral College is made up of 538 electors who cast votes on behalf of the population of the state, with 270 votes needed to win the presidency.
