NHS Forth Valley is facing a major financial challenge as rising costs mean efforts to reduce spending by £58 million are not on track.
While the plan meant that £14 million would still need to be found over the year, the latest figures suggest this could actually be as high as £40 million. In a financial update, members were told this increase was despite a positive reduction in supplementary staff costs. That is all against a backdrop of a "flat cash funding settlement" which means the NHS is having to manage the price increases with no extra funding.
