Weather maps pinpoint the freezing conditions may hit the country hours before the Brits begin to celebrate Christmas
Britain is bracing for a 647-mile 'Arctic bomb' set to blanket the country in snow, with weather maps from WXCharts indicating that freezing conditions could strike as early as Tuesday, December 24, just hours before Christmas celebrations kick off. From Wick down to Cardiff, swathes of the UK are expected to see snowy weather, with temperatures potentially dropping to between -3C and -4C in some regions.
Of course, at the moment, it is too early to tell exactly what the weather will be on Christmas Day, but the long-range weather forecast suggests it could be a white Christmas after all. He added, "While forecasts beyond a week usually show significant variation, a few intriguing models suggest the possibility of snow during the festive season. So the dream of a white Christmas is still alive, and for now, the message is simple: stay tuned."
According to the forecaster: "Before that, 2022 saw 9 per cent of weather stations recording falling snow, but none with any snow settling. 2021 and 2020 were also technically white Christmases, both with 6 per cent of weather stations recording snow falling, but in these years, less than 1 per cent of stations reported any snow lying on the ground in 2021 and only 4 per cent in 2020.
