A stunning manor house, once owned by King Henry VIII, is up for grabs in a prize draw. This historic property near Royal Wootton Bassett offers a wealth of history and potential development opportunities.

A stunning manor house worth £2.5 million, once owned by Henry VIII, is available in a prize draw for only £10 a ticket. This Grade-II listed property near Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire dates back to the 16th century and boasts a rich history. The house was reportedly gifted by Henry VIII to Edward Seymour, brother of his third wife Jane Seymour. It remained in the Seymour family for over a century after Edward's execution before being donated to Brasenose College, Oxford.

In the 18th century, the house was extended to include a Tudor-style Queen Anne wing, bringing the total floorspace to over 5,000 square feet. Fully furnished, the luxury home comes with raffle house covering stamp duty costs and fees. The property features six bedrooms, four reception rooms, and three bathrooms. It also includes a playroom, a cloakroom, an upstairs study, and a downstairs office. The kitchen opens to the sitting room and dining area. Two cellars offer potential for recreating Henry VIII's famous wine cellar. Despite renovations, the house retains original features like elm floors and the main staircase. Set on 2.75 acres in a peaceful hamlet, the property includes beautifully landscaped gardens and a walled garden. An outbuilding, a 1,900-square-foot barn, already has planning permission for conversion into a four-bedroom home. James Mieville, Executive Director of Raffle House, said: 'We're excited about this Dream Home draw. It's not only rich in history, but also full of potential. The outbuildings offer development opportunities and the tranquil setting close to London makes it ideal for a retreat or holiday rental business. The winner could even build a house in the barn and sell the main house. The potential is endless.' Raffle House allows winners to keep the property or take the cash equivalent. This prize also offers development potential and a business opportunity. The house is less than 20 minutes from Swindon train station, providing quick links to London. Entries cost £10, giving players 15 chances to win. There's also a free entry option by post. A portion of each entry goes to charity, with participants choosing from 14 charities to receive the donation. Entries close on February 28, with the winner announced on March 7. Those who enter before January 31 will be included in a bonus draw for a Mercedes AMG Coupe worth £55,000.
