Angela Schillaci from Lancashire has been charged with causing a public nuisance after making 87 calls to the police's emergency line (999) in the past two months. Police state that no requests were made during these calls, and they hindered the ability to respond to genuine emergencies. Schillaci has been released on bail and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
The 999 calls were made to the force's control room over the last two months. Officers said no requests were made and "it was clear the person calling was preventing our call takers from dealing with genuine emergencies".
