When Monday evening rolled around and Raiders forward Hudson Young still hadn't received a call from NSW coach Brad Fittler, he started to worry his 2023 Origin campaign was over.
Young’s recall comes on the back of two 80-minute performances at club level in which he averaged 83 run metres and 32 tackles for Canberra in the win over Wests Tigers and a loss to the Warriors.
“I just went back and tried to be myself and we were unlucky not to win against the Warriors but we got the win against the Tigers but I was confident I played my game,” he said. “He's always been a strong supporter of mine and for him to come out and have my back in the media and give me every confidence I’d be back here is very special.
