A young dad who was the "soul of the room" has tragically been found dead after being reported missing by his worried family. Police launched a frantic search for Joe Phipps, 23, and became "very concerned for his welfare" on March 18 but he was recently discovered dead, leaving his family devastated.
In a tribute, his family said: "Joe was always out to make everyone happy" and left a "hole only his cheesy grin and big feet can fill" the Mirror reports. Joe's sister Georgia Tranter said he believed "if he passed away no one would miss him" so she's urged as many people to attend his funeral - open to everyone - next week. On a fundraising page, Georgia said: "He was the life and soul of the room. You couldn’t be in a room with Joe and not know it. "From bouncing through the door to cracking jokes, trying to wrestle everyone and making silly noises just to put a smile on other people's faces, I’m sure his many friends could share endless tales and stories of the antics they’ve got up to over the years. "Above all Joe, was a family man. He adored his whole family... I know if he could see the outpouring of love we as a family have already received he would be lost for words. He was truly loved by so many."The fundraising appeal has been created to help pay for funeral costs and also money will be put into a trust fund for Mr Phipps two-year-old son. He was also a devoted stepfather to two older boys. Joe's partner, Amy Watson, said he was involved in boxing to help his mental health and had hoped to run professional classes to help younger generations with their mental health struggles. Amy said: "He was incredibly loud, flamboyant and always out to make everyone happy. He was always making a joke. He had an incredible relationship with the kids." Mourners have been told to wear bright colours and men to wear floral shirts — the uglier, the better — at the funeral on Friday, April 19 near Evesham, Worcestershire. West Mercia Police reported the 23-year-old man missing on Sunday , and officers said they were "very concerned for his welfare."Top news stories today Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here.
