Reaseheath Mini Zoo , located near Nantwich, Cheshire, has announced the passing of its beloved Brazilian tapir, Timmy . Timmy had been suffering from worsening arthritis in his joints and untreatable cataracts that significantly impaired his eyesight. Despite the dedicated care provided by veterinarians and modifications made to his living environment, Timmy 's condition continued to deteriorate. The zoo's staff made the difficult decision to euthanize him to alleviate his suffering.
The zoo shared the news on social media, writing, 'It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend, Timmy, a Brazilian Tapir, here at Reaseheath Mini Zoo.' They expressed their deep gratitude to the staff, students, and visitors who had cared for and spent time with Timmy over the years. The zoo also invited people to share their memories or photos of Timmy to celebrate the joy he brought.Many heartfelt tributes poured in from the public and students at Reaseheath College, where the zoo was situated.
