Pret A Manger has decided to keep its coffee subscription service at its current price of £5 per month, defying a planned increase to £10. This decision means that Club Pret members can continue to enjoy a 50 percent discount on up to five barista-prepared drinks daily.

Pret A Manger has decided to maintain its coffee subscription service at its current price of £5 per month, reversing a planned increase to £10. This means both new and existing Club Pret members can continue to enjoy a 50 percent discount on up to five barista-prepared drinks daily. The subscription was initially set to rise to £10 from March 31, 2025. In an email sent to subscribers, the coffee chain announced: 'Our Club Pret monthly subscription fee will remain at just £5.

' Pret further stated: 'At Pret, we believe in offering high-quality, organic coffee and Barista-made drinks at fantastic value. With Club Pret, you'll continue to enjoy great savings on up to five Barista-made drinks per day.' They also expressed their gratitude to customers, saying: 'Thank you for being part of Club Pret. We love serving you and hope to see you in our shops very soon.'The scheme, launched in September 2020 at £20 per month following a sales dip during Covid lockdowns, initially offered five free drinks and food discounts, as reported by the Express. However, rising ingredient costs and VAT prompted a gradual price increase to £30, drawing criticism from customers who observed rising menu prices. Pret revamped the subscription in September 2024, slashing the cost to £5 and concentrating on half-price drinks while eliminating the food discount altogether. The original plan was for this £5 price point to last for six months before jumping to £10 per month in March 2025. However, it will now remain at £5 indefinitely. Pret operates almost 500 shops across the UK, with 274 in London, 14 in Manchester, 10 in Birmingham, and smaller numbers spread throughout other regions of the UK, according to data firm Scrape Hero

Researchers analyzed data from over 42,000 US adults and found that those who drank coffee primarily in the morning had significantly lower death rates compared to those who drank coffee throughout the day or those who didn't drink coffee at all. While this is an observational study and cannot establish causation, the findings highlight a potential link between morning coffee consumption and improved health outcomes.
