Despite the scorching temperatures during the first weekend of Oasis's homecoming gigs, fans at Heaton Park face a vastly different weather outlook for the final two shows. Torrential downpours and thunderstorms are predicted, potentially disrupting the concert experience.
Oasis fans are preparing for the band's final two homecoming gigs at Heaton Park , but this weekend's weather forecast paints a much different picture compared to the scorching 30C heat experienced during the first weekend. Scattered showers have already graced the city over the past week, with the Met Office issuing a yellow thunderstorm warning for the region, effective from 9pm on Friday until 6pm on Saturday.
This warning anticipates torrential downpours bringing 20-30 mm of rainfall in less than an hour across many areas, with some places potentially experiencing 60-90 mm in a three-hour span. \Meteorologist Alex Burkill from the Met Office explained that while the south and east regions might see some dry spells and sunshine, high humidity and heat will make conditions uncomfortable for many. Burkill added that the combination of heat and humidity creates a strong likelihood of heavy, thundery rain developing from the south, spreading across much of the UK throughout Saturday and into Sunday. \The forecast indicates heavy rain hitting Manchester around 4am on Saturday morning. The day begins dramatically with thunder and lightning expected around 6am, with temperatures starting at around 17C. While the temperature will rise to 20C by 11am, Met Office rainfall maps display a heavy deluge of rain with a potential for thunder and lightning from 10am onwards, commencing in Oldham before sweeping westward to encompass the entire region by 11am. This heavy rainfall is expected to persist intermittently for a couple of hours, with showers continuing until mid-afternoon. As fans head to Heaton Park in the afternoon, the forecast predicts drier conditions from 3pm onwards, and the temperature is expected to continue its upward trend, reaching 22C by 3pm. However, the BBC Weather forecast indicates a 17 percent chance of thunder and rain returning at 7pm, just as Oasis is set to take the stage at 8pm. While the concert is likely to remain dry, there is a slightly higher chance, 19 percent, of thunder and light rain between 7pm and 8pm, which should ease during the concert's second hour. Leaving around 10:30pm, there's a chance of thunder returning, with a 34 percent probability according to the BBC, although the Met Office's rain map suggests the rain might have cleared by then. \Sunday morning dawns slightly cooler at 16C, rising to 19C by midday, with occasional glimpses of sunshine. However, this pleasant spell is short-lived, as rain is predicted across Greater Manchester from around 8am. The BBC forecasts a 70 percent chance of rain between 9am and 1pm. Sunday afternoon sees the temperature climbing further, reaching 21C around 4pm. Fans heading to the final reunion concert can expect another wet and thundery journey, with a chance of rain and thunder throughout the afternoon. BBC Weather currently predicts a 31 percent to 58 percent chance of heavy rain on Sunday afternoon, although it is expected to ease by the early evening, with rain probabilities diminishing from 7pm onwards
