Courses take place on Wednesdays, 1:00-3:00 PM EST. Excel is widely used in scientific laboratories to automate tedious data manipulation and presentation tasks. This course will review many of the tools built-in to Excel/VBA for handling problems commonly encountered in the laboratory. It will also show you how to use Excel to programmatically read and write instrument worklists and provide automation techniques for processing multiple files to customize Excel and expand upon its functionality.Meet the Course Instructor William Neil earned a BS in chemistry and biology from The College of New Jersey. He developed an interest in computing and automation while at Mobil Oil Corp, where he automated a liquid scintillation counter and a Packard biological oxidizer robot. At International Flavors and Fragrances, he automated the sample compounding operation. Since 1995 William has worked in the pharma industry, where he authors applications to automate diverse laboratory processes. Shortly after receiving his PhD in Biochemical Engineering, Mark Russo started his professional career in biotech and pharma with a focus on scientific computing, automation, and scientific data. Mark has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters on related topics. Currently, he is faculty in the Department of Computer Science at The College of New Jersey.
