Fire crews at the scene this morning A fire has broken out in a northbound tunnel near Waterloo Underground station in London. London Fire Brigade and other emergency crews rushed to the scene after reports of a blaze in the Kennington Tunnels on York Road, south east London this morning.
Firefighters have since managed to contain the fire. As a precaution, sections of the northbound tunnel were closed, and people evacuated from the station. The northern line is currently suspended between Charing Cross and Battersea Power Station. There is a good service on the rest of the line, according to TfL. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
