Who would believe a naïve young girl against a powerful, rich, influential man with friends in the highest places? His lawyers would then try to undermine her, dredging up innocent previous sexual encounters to paint her in an unflattering light. She would then have to relive the whole horror again under aggressive legal cross examination. Heaven forfend you might misremember a date or location. Why can’t men see this? Why can’t they put their worldview aside to see this situation from those young, petrified women’s perspectives?
