The Sprive app is a game-changer for UK shoppers, allowing them to earn cashback and access deals at major supermarkets and retailers. Users like Christopher Gilbert are reporting potential savings of £2,500 or more in mortgage interest.
Supermarket customers are in for a massive boost with the Sprive app working alongside chains like Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Asda. This clever tool allows shoppers to earn cashback and access assorted deals, including discounted vouchers on their shopping. These savings contribute towards mortgage payments. Christopher Gilbert, 40, from Surrey Hills, has shared his success story with the app, reporting potential savings of £2,500 in interest.
He said: 'Shop with Sprive is literally free money – you are doing the shopping anyway, and it doesn't cost you any more to use the app, but it does earn you money to overpay.' Gilbert utilises Sprive at Tesco and Sainsbury’s, while also claiming cashback from Waitrose, M&S, and John Lewis. Beyond supermarkets, the application can be used for savings at Morrisons, Asda, and even dining spots like Costa Coffee, Greggs, and Pizza Express. Thrilled about the financial benefits, Gilbert elaborated: “We have only been using the app for a few months, and already we are on track to save almost £2,500 in interest and shave 3 years off the mortgage term, and the best thing of all is it actually hasn't cost me anything to do. My only regret is that I didn't know about it sooner.' As a senior sales consultant, Mr Gilbert holds a £400,000 mortgage on his property since 2009 and is currently tied to a 1.79 per cent five-year fixed deal. He started using the Sprive app in August 2024 and said: 'Sprive offers another way of overpaying my mortgage with zero hassle. On a normal month, I would pay around £125 in overpayments but on a good month, more than £400.' He also highlighted the convenience of the 'Shop with Sprive' feature, adding: 'With the Shop with Sprive feature - which is so easy to use - I'm averaging about £65 per month in overpayments just from cashback.' His experience includes securing cashback after spending £400 at B&Q for some home items using the app, which additionally enables extra monthly contributions to be made towards the mortgage from a connected bank account
