Padres pitching prospect Adam Mazur has allowed one run or fewer in four of five starts with Double-A San Antonio

Adam Mazur bounced back in a big way Wednesday. The 23-year-old right-hander threw six shutout innings, helping Double-A San Antonio to a 4-0 win at Arkansas. Mazur improved to 2-1 as he struck out five in lowering his ERA to 2.39. He scattered two walks and four hits in the quality start, an about-face after allowing six earned runs in 4 ⅓ innings in his previous starts. Mazur has allowed one run or fewer in four of his five starts this year.

Chihuahuas 6, Sugar Land 4: SS Mason McCoy drove in three runs on two hits, including his third homer. C Brett Sullivan drove in two runs on his second homer. 1B Donovan Solano went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. DH Matthew Batten went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored. The bullpen accounted for 5⅓ innings of shutout, one-hit ball, with RHP Sean Reynolds leading the way with four strikeouts over 2⅓ no-hit innings.

Lake County 7, TinCaps 6: 3B Devin Ortiz hit his third and fourth homers and RF Kai Murphy and SS Nik McClaughry both went 2-for-4 with an RBI. DH Ethan Salas went 0-for-5 with an RBI and two strikeouts. LHP Mitch Miller allowed three runs in the ninth, his second inning of work, to blow the save. LHP Jagger Haynes walked three but allowed on run in six innings in the start. The TinCaps have lost eight in a row.
