Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about what is to come from his team after a better start than expected
Pep Guardiola told his Manchester City players to expect changes when they return from the international break.
Most of the squad are heading off to feature for their national teams and City sit on top of the Premier League table after a perfect start. A 3-1 win at West Ham helped them to nine points from their opening three games with a goal difference of plus seven - the same number of goals that Erling Haaland has plundered.
Jack Grealish came into the side at the London Stadium because of an injury to Savinho but Guardiola has largely relied on the same players to get City off to a better start than the manager expected. However, with Champions League and league cup games starting in midweek as soon as they return from their international fixtures there will have to be more changes starting in September.
"Today again we made just one change because Savinho was not able to play," Guardiola said. "And these three games we played the same team more or less for many reasons - because of people arriving late, for form, because Rico and Kovacic deserved to play - but from now on everyone is going to play because we cannot sustain this rhythm and actions every three days for 11 months.
"All the players look fit - Matheus Nunes made an assist like Kevin De Bruyne today - and everyone played really good so we have to continue in that way.
